Requirements :
- MBChB qualification.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Medical Practitioner, DipPEC, EMSSA level 1 Ultrasound course.
- Six (6) months experience in Accident and Emergency under the guidance of an emergency physician.
- At least 3 of the following current emergency-related courses:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS),
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or APLS).
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS or EMATT).
RECOMMENDATION: The following certificates will be an added advantage: EMSSA ultrasound accreditation, FCEM part 1, ECG course.
Duties :
- Clinical duties in Emergency Unit (includes after-hour duties).
- Clinical guidance of Emergency unit nurse, community service doctors and interns.
- Accompaniment and clinical guidance of medical students and clinical associates.
- Assist with logistic arrangements including waiting time in the Emergency unit.
- Participation in the academic programme of the Department of Family Medicine & Emergency Medicine.

- These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand ,University of Pretoria and Sefako Makgatho University
