Requirements :

  • Grade 12 plus Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural/Civil Engineering (NQF Level 7) 6 years post qualification experience in Agricultural engineering.
  • Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Duties :

  • Development of all agriculture infrastructure specifications and implementation thereof.
  • Provide strategic engineering advice and technical oversight for agricultural and rural infrastructure development and sustainable resource programmes.
  • Perform final review and approvals or audits on new engineering designs according to design principles or theory.
  • Co-ordinate design efforts and integration across disciplines to ensure seamless integration with current technology.
  • Manage the execution of maintenance strategy through the provision of appropriate structures, systems and resources.
  • Set engineering maintenance standards, specifications and service levels according to organizational objectives to ensure optimum operational availability.
  • Allocate, control, monitor and report on all resources.
  • Compile risk logs and manages significant risk according to sound risk management practice and organizational requirements.
  • Provide technical consulting services for the operation on engineering related matters to minimize possible engineering risks Manage and implement knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • short-term assignments and secondments within and across operations, in support of individual development plans, operational requirements and return on investment.
  • Manage funds in the Directorate in compliance with Public Finance Management Act and the Treasury Regulations.
  • Limit under spending or overspending by the Directorate in terms of the departmental budget allocations.
