Requirements :
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
- HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner and must have completed Community Service.
- Current registration with HPCSA for 2025/2026. Must have FCPaed Part
- Exposure as Medical Officer in a training institution in a relevant department or outside the training institutions in a relevant department will be an added advantage.
Duties :
- Interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties,
- participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research,
- participate in departmental audit activities,
- prepare and write reports, communication services and community liaison.
- Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors).
- Willing to work longer hours. Attend relevant administrative meetings like mortality meetings, near miss meetings and complete Medico-Legal Documents timeously (e.g., Death certificate).
- Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care.
- Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos.
- Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards).
- Participate in multidisciplinary team to manage patients.
- Perform practical procedures relevant to the care of patients.
- Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds.
- Ensure effective administration and sae record keeping in the department.
- Registrars will inter alia be responsible for rendering of clinical services, assessment and treatment of patients,
- Registrars will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes.
- Willing to work longer hours (night, weekend, and public holiday) duties to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients
Notes :
- These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand /University of Pretoria and/ Sefako Makgatho University.
